Scrivo la definizione di funzione strettamente crescente :
Sia $A$ intervallo di $RR$
$f:A->B$ è strettamente crescente se e solo se $AA x_1,x_2 in A$ si ha $x_1>x_2 => f(x_1)>f(x_2)$
Poichè $arctg(x)$ è strettamente crescente in $RR$, si avrà che $arctg(x)>arctg(1)<=> x>1$
