Personalmente preferisco la terza persona singolare, ma questo è un caso in cui ci potrebbe essere vedere se c'è una "style guide" della casa editrice/rivista/ecc. E cercare esempi con Google ecc.

Alla fine ho chiesto! La sua risposta è stata: "Non mi sono mai posto il problema." Gli ho suggerito la soluzione di ghira, che - almeno per me - è quella che rispetta meglio sia la sintassi che la semantica, e ha apprezzato.
