romanzo in inglese

Siccome vorrei riprendere un po' di inglese, mi consigliate un autore abbastanza semplice, magari non uno di quelli che si studiano a scuola (cattivi ricordi... )?

You can just walk into a bookstore and find the shelves of foreign books. If you want a more specific advice, you need to tell us what do you like to read.

Yes, of course... But I haven't a rich English vocabulary and I don't want to buy a book full of difficult terms!
So I'm looking for an author that uses a quite basic vocabulary. The genre is not important, better if the author is free from royalties, so I can download the book (decaduti i diritti d'autore).
Thanks!

Ok, then you may give a look to the Project Gutenberg. http://www.gutenberg.org/

I would suggest you Abbott's Flatland, if you haven't read it yet in italian. You can also consider Alice in Wonderland, my brother said me it is better in english, but maybe not as simple as the Abbott's book.

I suggest you "Revenge", it's a really good book that make you smile and let you think at the same time. The problem is: I don't rememeber the author's name... :-D

That's an old topic but maybe the user who opened it is interested nowaday.
I've found so much plain to read -in a sense related to the vocabolary- everything Isaac Asimov has written. If you've ever read something by him in your native language, you might remember how common are the words he uses. Of course I'm not speaking about the plot, that is kinda sharped story, but only about how easy a foreigner could find his novels.

Good luck! :)
